A Little Aussie is part of a series of 5 *theme* houses I am building on 2x2 lots . This lot could in no way have been possible without darylmarkloc's divine Australian Federation style building pack and Hills Hoist. A Little Aussie is built in a style that can be found in the northern parts of the eastern seaboard of Australia. Wide verandah's with overhanging porches and an open space underneath help to keep the air circulating and the house kewl. Wooden floorboards and overhead fans are also standard faire. Outside you will find the ubiquitous brick barby and some shady gum trees for eating our *snags* under. The gum trees are messy, their root system is insidious and the trees break and drop branches on our houses all the time - but still we love them. You will also find a spare garbage bin near the Hills Hoist - each can serve as a set of wickets in a game of backyard cricket. I look at this lot and I can hear the cicada's singing their horrificly loud summer song, feel the sticky annoying flies trying to crawl in my eyes and the sun beating on my head. Time to crawl into the space under the house where us kids always had a *hidey* ;)
